In this ecosystem there are abiotic and biotic factors. The abiotic factors would be the air and soil. The most obvious biotic factor would be the tree, and the grass. However, the tree is also a biotic limiting factor. The reason why the tree is considered a limiting factor is due to how it is limiting the factors around it. You see how below the tree, there's no grass? The tree is limiting the grass's resources in that spot, so that it cant grow. The tree doesn't like competition and so it doesn't let grass grow underneath it. If grass were to grow underneath, then the tree and grass would be competing for the soil, water, and sunlight it needs to grow and live. Now you can see that even plants can get competitive. ;)Thursday, September 30, 2010
